Gateway Blueprint Internet Technology (Blueprint IT) is a Web-based tool that will help decision-makers across the St. Louis metropolitan region find and use information to assist in planning and decision-making.

What is Blueprint IT?

Blueprint IT will be a tool for delivering a wealth of planning in- formation via the Internet, at multiple geographic scales and jurisdictional levels.  Users can:

• Access information to help them understand important planning issues.
• Visualize possible future change associated with planning decisions.
• Manipulate maps, simulations, economic forecasts, environmental and social data, decision consequence graphics and text, and plans forpublic policy and investment.

Blueprint IT will be a tool that links residents, community organizations, and planners with state-of-the-art planning research and analysis.

Why Blueprint IT?

Blueprint IT will allow communities to access planning resources available from the East-West Gateway Council of Governments.  By using Web-based technology,  Blueprint IT leverages the Council's available resources enabling communities to access information more effectively and at a low cost.

What information does Blueprint IT provide?

Using a Web browser, users simultaneously review several types of spatial information:

• An inventory of natural, agricultural, and cultural resources
• A database of local protection and regulation plans and ordinances (called an Information System of Plans, or ISoP)
• Simulations of future land-use change
• Resource stress analysis

How do I use Blueprint IT?

The Bluepint IT uses a powerful Geographic Information System (GIS) to manage the complex geographic information under its control. All this information is made available using a standard Web brower. Maps are displayed graphically and support panning and zooming (use the tools on the right hand panel and click on the maps). Informational layers (right hand panel) can be turned on and off in any combination. Feel free to explore -- you can't hurt anything.
